November 2010

My! How time doth fly!  I have nearly completed two months on the job, and it seems like I started only a
couple of weeks ago.  I am beginning to settle in a bit, and the students are starting to come around.  I have
much to say about things but not enough time now to relate.  I am still having to access the internet from
McDonald's, using their Wi-Fi, early each morning, and only for a few minutes at a time.

The Willow Oak crew is relatively okay.  More on that at a later date.

November 14 (Sunday) 7:30 am

Frost on the pumpkin this morning.  Thought I would check in.  I am still logging on to the internet by using
McDonald's WiFi.  The return to teaching is going well, although I continue to be aghast at the depths to
which expectations have fallen.  The students appear to be much less prepared academically and much
more apathetic to their education that I recall from when I last taught 12 years ago.  The kids at the school
where I am teaching are decent enough, and they deserve to be challenged a bit more than that to which
they have grown accustomed.

November 24 (Wednesday) 1:30 pm

The weather has mellowed with temps in the 80's.  We are off this week for Thanksgiving holidays.  Our
school is hosting a basketball tournament, and I have been faithfully attending.  Last night I manned the
gate.

There really is a lot to write about, but not having access to the internet from home prohibits me from
posting as much and as often as I would like.
