January 16 (Sunday) 4:04 pm

I am still here.  The first semester of school has ended and a new semester has begun.  Christmas came
and went, as did New Years.

January 22 (Saturday) 7:10 am

I have been at my new place now for 14 weeks.  For these 14 weeks I have had extremely limited access to
the internet and as such limited opportunity to update my journal.  I confess that although I missed it at first,
I now find myself rather disinterested in even keeping up with my website at all.

My activities have changed as well as my venue, and as such, so have my interests changed.

Above is a recent photo of some of the cats as they enjoy lounging around their new digs.  In the photo are
both BK's, Pete, Sasha, Boots, Ethyl, and Tiger.  Below are some of the dogs as they likewise lounge around.
In the photo are Sam, Scamp, Willie, Taz, Grainger, and Grace.  Lu Lu is asleep in the chair.  As I've said
before, I have one lazy bunch of vagabonds.  But I wouldn't have it any other way.

In recent months I have become somewhat of a vagabond myself.  Having had to quit my previous job for
health reasons I found myself on the move, the Willow Oak crew in tow.  It is only by a miracle that we have
managed to stay together this far into our journey.

Below are my own new digs.  I forget the exact square-footage, but the house itself is of 1900's vintage.
Located on the Ouachita River, the house has two big rooms in the attic, and four rooms on the first floor.  A
huge front porch and a smaller back porch fill out the remaining space.  Surrounded by massive pecan
trees and some very large and aged cedar trees and pine trees, I've dubbed the place "River Bend."

I currently have a lease-with-option-to-buy agreement.  Hopefully, the Willow Oak crew has finally found a
place to rest -- a new permanent home.

Unseasonably warm weather that we are having, with temps in the high 60's the past couple of days.  This is
supposed to be the coldest time of the year.  On the one hand the warm temps are much appreciated, but
on the other hand certain plants need cold weather in order to produce fruit in the spring.  So we shall see
what is the result of all the recent balmy conditions.

School work is going well.  With a student population of under 500, from 9th to 12th grades, the ambience is
pleasant.  I find most of the staff pleasant people with which to work, and although there are a couple of
seemingly "bad apples" among them the students are well-mannered and well-behaved.

Dogs and cats continue to fare well.  The cats appear to be extremely pleased with their arrangements, and
the dogs seem to be pleased no matter what their accomodations.
