Kenny is our main man, without whom we simply would not be able to cope.  Kenny operates
all of our heavy equipment, especially the grinder.  Operating the grinder is not as easy at it
looks.  Special skill is required to operate this delicate and expensive piece of machinery, and
at that Kenny is an expert.  This photo and the subsequent photos were taken on the day
after Thanksgiving.  Most people prefer to take that day off, but Kenny prefers to work.  It is
not an easy thing to find someone who is so willing to work.  He is worth every penny that we
pay him and more.
Here is a stump that is in the process of being ground.
Sometimes on-the-spot maintenance is required to keep our machinery in operation.  Kenny is
good at spotting and fixing problems on the spot.  Today, Kenny's brother Scotty lent a hand
and can be seen here assisting his brother.
At other times on-the-spot repairs are required.  Larry and I are co-owners in this venture.
Larry basically runs the business, and about all I can do is count the money.  Larry is also an
expert small and large engine repair man.  Here Larry and Kenny are checking out a possible
problem, which may require some shop time repairs.
Today we worked at one of the horse farms in our area.  Scotty jumped in and operated the
grinder ...
... while Kenny sharpened a chain for the chain saw.  We have a machine that sharpens
chains quickly and efficiently, but that can only be done in shop, so sometimes the job has to
be done in the field and on the job.  Kenny is expert at performing that task.
Quite often we grind stumps for other tree-cutting operations.  Such was the case today.
When we do work for others they often leave too much stump to be ground.  In those cases,
the stump must be cut off near the ground, leaving what is referred to as a "butt."  Here, Scotty
not only cuts a butt, he shows one too!
Ah!  Today was a gorgeous day!  Just beautiful!  Perfect for our kind of work.  Some of the
places where we work are simply breathtaking!
Here is a stump awaiting its turn to be ground.
And another.
And still another.
It is nice that we have already been noticed from some of my regular readers.  Randi from
Copenhagen, Denmark, recently wrote:

Both Kenny, his brother and Larry look like good hard working men. It looks like hard and dirty work, but I
have the impression that they all enjoy it, and it is nice to be outdoors when the weather is good, and not
having a boss whipping them all the time. :)

Tell Scotty not to get his butt burned! LOL! I think a belt would be the right Christmas present for him. ;)
